I Can Freely Associate with APC, PDP Despite ADC Role — Obaseki
Don Pedro Obaseki, has reaffirmed his commitment to political tolerance and unity, stating that his affiliation with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) does not prevent him from freely interacting with members of other major political parties.
Obaseki made the remarks while reacting to an apology from Osazee Adun, popularly known as Kapupue, over an acid attack incident that occurred months ago in Benin City.
In a video shared by ITV, Obaseki said he had chosen the path of forgiveness despite the physical and emotional trauma caused by the attack, emphasizing that his priority remains peace and unity in the community.
According to him, harboring resentment would only deepen divisions, while forgiveness offers an opportunity for reconciliation and societal progress.
“I see myself as someone ready to make sacrifices for the greater good.
Holding onto anger will not help us move forward as a people,” he said.
Speaking on his political stance, Obaseki described himself as a bridge-builder who is not driven by partisan rivalry.
Though a chieftain of the ADC, he maintained that he can relate with members of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) without bias.
“I’m the only one who can walk into APC and not be bothered, and also enter PDP without any concern, even as a chieftain of the ADC,” he stated.
He further noted that his decision to forgive was guided by personal and family values, stressing the importance of reconciliation over retaliation.
Obaseki added that embracing forgiveness would foster healing and strengthen unity within the society.
