Kogi Media Personality Idris Gegu Defends Karimi, Condemns ‘Mischievous’ Press Briefing

A media personality and aide to the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, Mr. Idris Abubakar Gegu, has condemned what he described as a “staged and mischievous” press conference allegedly aimed at discrediting the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Kogi West.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Idris Gegu said the primary election that produced Senator Karimi was credible and reflected the genuine wishes of party members and delegates across the district.

He criticised individuals involved in the alleged campaign against the outcome of the exercise, accusing them of attempting to undermine the democratic process for personal interests.

According to him, efforts to discredit the outcome of the primary election had already failed, insisting that the mandate given to Senator Karimi remained intact and unquestionable.

He maintained that no amount of propaganda, blackmail, or political manipulation could overturn what he described as the clear mandate freely given by the people of Kogi West.

“The people have spoken clearly and decisively, and their mandate remains solid and unshaken. No amount of sponsored distractions can alter the will of the people or rewrite the outcome of a credible process,” he stated.

Idris Gegu further described the alleged attacks against the senator as futile, adding that truth and justice would ultimately prevail in the political process.

He called on party members and supporters to remain calm and united, stressing the need to protect the integrity of the APC and uphold democratic principles within the party.
