APC Clarifies Status of Senatorial Candidates, Says Official List Yet to Be Released

Global Times Nigeria has obtained a report that the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked reports that the party has released an official list of qualified senatorial candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued and signed on June 9, 2026, by the National Publicity Secretary, the party said its attention had been drawn to a purported list circulating under the title, “APC Releases List of Qualified Senatorial Candidates Ahead of the 2027 General Election.”
The APC acknowledged that senatorial primaries had been successfully conducted in several states but emphasized that the National Working Committee (NWC) had not released, ratified, or published any official list of candidates.
According to the party, the process of collating, verifying, and ratifying the results of the primaries is still ongoing. It further clarified that no authentic list of senatorial candidates has been transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APC cautioned party members, stakeholders, and the general public against relying on any list currently in circulation, describing such documents as unofficial and unverified.
The National Secretariat urged supporters and aspirants to exercise patience and refrain from speculation while the party concludes its internal processes in accordance with the Electoral Act, INEC guidelines, and the APC Constitution.
The party assured members that the authentic list of duly cleared and ratified senatorial candidates would be made public once the National Working Committee completes its ratification process.

REVISED OFFICIAL RESPONSE:
The attention of the All Progressives Congress APC National Secretariat has been drawn to a list in circulation titled “APC Releases List of Qualified Senatorial Candidates Ahead of 2027 Election.”
While it is true that senatorial primaries have been conducted in several states, we wish to state categorically that the National Working Committee NWC has not released, ratified, or published any official list of candidates.
For clarification:
1. Senatorial primaries have been concluded in some states under the supervision of the party.
2. The collation, vetting, and ratification of results by the National Working Committee is still ongoing.
3. No authentic list of senatorial candidates has been released or transmitted to INEC by the party.
4. Any list currently in circulation is unofficial, unverified, and should be disregarded by party members and the public.
The National Secretariat urges stakeholders to avoid speculation and await the official release from the NWC through the party’s recognized channels. We appreciate the patience of aspirants and members as we conclude all internal processes in line with the Electoral Act, INEC guidelines, and the APC Constitution.
The authentic list of cleared senatorial candidates will be made public once ratification is completed by the National Working Committee.
