The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State, has arrested two more suspected cultists as part of its ongoing crackdown on cultism and other related criminal activities following the recent security breach on campus.
The suspects were identified as Fidelis Atuluku, Matric No. 2026SE1252, and Monday Okolo, Matric No. 2026SE1247, both 100-level students of the Department of Social Studies/Education, Faculty of Education.
According to the university management, the suspects were tracked based on credible intelligence and apprehended on campus on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, while allegedly in possession of charms.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both suspects confessed to being members of the Juris Confraternity. They reportedly disclosed that they were initiated into the cult group before gaining admission into the university.
The management stated that the suspects would be handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, reaffirmed the institution’s determination to sustain its fight against cultism and other criminal activities until normalcy is fully restored on campus.
He urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards, advising them to pay attention to the kind of associations they keep in order to prevent them from being drawn into cultism and other criminal acts.
Professor Usman also disclosed that the university has commenced the profiling of cult members who voluntarily surrender to the authorities, sign undertakings, and pledge to desist from such activities in the future.
He noted that the window remains open for willing members to take advantage of the opportunity by reporting to the Office of the Chief Security Officer or the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs.
The Vice-Chancellor further revealed that the university would soon organise a formal renunciation ceremony for those prepared to publicly denounce their membership in cult groups and embrace lawful, responsible lifestyles on campus.
Professor Usman commended security agencies, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and concerned individuals for their continued support in ensuring peace and security within and around the university.
He also encouraged students to support ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining a peaceful, secure, and conducive learning environment.
