Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has urged married couples and newlyweds to remain committed to the core values of marriage in order to build peaceful, stable and egalitarian homes.
Balarabe gave the advice on Friday during the wedding Fatiha of Princess Aisha Yusuf Onairo, daughter of the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Lafia, Alhaji Umar Idris Onairo.

He cautioned couples against allowing third-party interference in their marriages, stressing that sincerity, mutual understanding, openness and genuine love are essential ingredients for a successful and enduring union.

The former Speaker encouraged the newlyweds to uphold virtues that strengthen marital relationships and prayed for Allah’s blessings, guidance and protection upon their union.

The wedding Fatiha between Princess Aisha Yusuf Onairo and Idris Momohjimoh Ovaku was held at the residence of the Permanent Secretary in Lafia. The ceremony was officiated by the Chief Imam of Umaisha and Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Lafia, Justice Mohammed Yahaya Usman.

After confirming that all Islamic marriage requirements had been fulfilled, including the payment of a ₦200,000 dowry, the cleric pronounced the couple husband and wife.

Jamilu Musa represented the groom’s family during the ceremony, while Suleiman Muhammed stood in for the bride’s family.

The event attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, government officials, staff of the Government House, traditional and community leaders, family members, friends and well-wishers. Also in attendance was the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, alongside members of the Umaisha community, who came out in solidarity with the Onairo family, descendants of the late Ohimege Opanda, HRH Alhaji Usman Idris Onairo.

Rt. Hon. Balarabe Abdullahi attended the ceremony alongside the member representing Keana Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu; former member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency, Hon. Usman Labaran Shafa; Special Adviser to the Governor, Alhaji Muhammed Usman (Understand); Deputy Clerk (Finance) of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Alkali Haruna, and other notable personalities.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the newly married couple, the leadership of Nasarawa State, and Nigeria, seeking peace, unity and continued progress for the nation.
