Oborevwori Congratulates First Female NBA President, Two Deltans Elected Into National Executive

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first elected female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and a triumph of merit, excellence, and gender inclusion.

The governor also felicitated with two distinguished Deltans, Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, on their successful election into the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association.

In a statement issued on Friday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori said the election of Badejo-Okusanya reflected the confidence reposed in her by members of the legal profession, following her remarkable career distinguished by integrity, professionalism, and commitment to justice.

He expressed confidence that her leadership would further strengthen the legal profession, deepen the rule of law, and champion reforms aimed at improving access to justice across Nigeria.

Oborevwori urged the newly elected NBA President to unite members of the association after the keenly contested election and collaborate with stakeholders in advancing judicial reforms, safeguarding the sanctity of the Constitution, and sustaining the legal profession’s vital role in Nigeria’s democratic development.

The governor wished her a successful and impactful tenure.

Governor Oborevwori also described the election of Chief Oghenero Okoro as the First Vice President of the NBA as well-deserved, citing his outstanding contributions to the legal profession over the years.

He noted that Okoro, a former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch, had made Delta State proud and expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would contribute significantly to strengthening the association.

Oborevwori recalled that Okpomor previously served as Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, and commended her dedication and commitment to the advancement of the legal profession.
