Delta APC Accuses Omo-Agege of Spreading Falsehoods, Defends Oborevwori’s Security Record

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected what it described as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s attempt to “rewrite facts” regarding recent political violence in the state, insisting that allegations against the party are false, unsubstantiated and aimed at misleading the public ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the party accused Omo-Agege’s media team of recycling falsehoods and promoting conspiracy theories instead of responding to issues raised in an earlier APC statement released on July 29, 2026.

According to the APC, comments made by the Delta State Commissioner for Works and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, condemning the attack on Mr. Temple Mudi and directing security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible, clearly contradict allegations that the APC or the state government orchestrated the incident.
The party argued that it would be illogical for a government allegedly involved in such an attack to publicly call for a thorough investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
The APC also faulted Omo-Agege’s claim that a meeting of APC leaders at the PTI Conference Centre, Effurun, was violently disrupted by hoodlums.
According to the statement, live television broadcasts by Arise Television and TVC News showed that although an isolated incident occurred, the meeting continued uninterrupted and was successfully concluded.
The party further dismissed allegations linking it to the reported attack on the New Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, during a visit to Aghalokpe Community, describing the accusation as baseless.
It challenged Omo-Agege and the NDC to provide verifiable evidence connecting the APC or any of its members to the alleged incident, stressing that allegations without proof cannot stand in a democratic society governed by the rule of law.
Responding to claims that the APC was planning coordinated violence ahead of the 2027 elections, the party described the allegation as entirely false and politically motivated.
The statement questioned why such alleged evidence had not been submitted to security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), or the Inspector-General of Police, if it genuinely existed.
The APC maintained that the allegations were merely an attempt to create excuses ahead of the next election, insisting that Delta voters would reject politics based on fear and misinformation.
The party also rejected claims that it opposed investigations into recent incidents of violence, noting that its July 29 statement had expressly called on the Commissioner of Police, the DSS and other security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
Reaffirming its confidence in the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the APC said Delta State continues to enjoy relative peace and security despite isolated criminal incidents.
It credited the governor’s administration with supporting security agencies and maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to criminality across the state.
The party urged Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the NDC to refrain from what it described as politics of falsehood and fear-mongering, advising them to allow security agencies to investigate all allegations professionally and without political interference.
The statement added that the people of Delta State deserve responsible leadership anchored on facts rather than what it called “manufactured crises” and political propaganda.
