The Business Summit Group has set a target of securing more than $100 billion in investment commitments at the forthcoming International Investors Summit Nigeria 2026 scheduled to take place in Abuja in November.
President of the Business Summit Group, Dato’ Dr. M. Haider Uzzaman, disclosed this on Tuesday at a press conference in Abuja, saying the two-day international summit would attract investors, business leaders and government representatives from more than 50 countries.
The summit is scheduled to hold on November 10 and 11, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
Uzzaman said the summit would focus on attracting investments into strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy, including oil and gas, green energy, technology, healthcare, agriculture, mining, infrastructure, education, human capital development, artificial intelligence and fintech.
According to him, the summit is designed to provide a platform for direct engagement between international investors and Nigerian businesses, state governments and investment promotion agencies seeking foreign direct investment and access to international markets.
He called on Nigerian companies, particularly medium and large-scale enterprises, as well as state governments with investment-ready projects, to take advantage of the summit by presenting viable opportunities to prospective investors.
“Investors like projects that have track records for expansion and new production lines,” Uzzaman said.
He added that projects capable of immediate implementation would receive priority during the business-to-business and government-to-investor engagements.
25 Nigerian Companies, States Attended Bangkok Summit
The Business Summit Group president disclosed that 25 Nigerian companies and state governments participated in the previous edition of the summit held in Bangkok, Thailand, last year.
He said Nigerian participants at the Bangkok summit subsequently requested that the next edition be hosted in Nigeria to provide more local businesses and state governments with direct access to international investors.
Uzzaman and the Vice President of Business Summit Group in Nigeria, Mr. Innocent Obande, also disclosed that Plateau State had secured investment commitments valued at more than $1 billion within the past six months following the state’s participation in the Bangkok summit.
Uzzaman’s role in facilitating investment opportunities for Plateau State was also identified as one of the factors behind his appointment as Special Adviser on Investment to Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
Summit Registration Opens
The organisers said registration had formally commenced for Nigerian companies, state governments and government investment agencies interested in securing one-on-one meetings with international investors expected at the Abuja summit.
They said the summit would provide participants with opportunities to showcase investment-ready projects, explore partnerships and establish business relationships with investors from different parts of the world.
The organisers further disclosed that Liberian President Joseph Boakai Sr. had expressed interest in participating in the summit, while the President of the Republic of Liberland, Vit Jedlička, had confirmed his attendance with his delegation.
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, was also described by the organisers as a strong supporter of the summit.
Investors Expected From More Than 50 Countries
Uzzaman said investors expected at the Abuja meeting would come from several regions, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia and Turkey.
He added that investors were also expected from countries in the Middle East and Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Australia, among others.
He said the diversity of participating investors was expected to broaden opportunities for Nigerian businesses seeking international capital, technical partnerships, market access and expansion.
Business Leaders Attend Press Conference
The press conference was attended by the Director and Chief Financial Officer of Standard Insurance Consultants Ltd., the Nigerian partner of Business Summit Group, Mr. Abdul Azeez J. Salawudeen; Mr. Abid Haider, Vice President, Strategy, Business Summit Group; and Ambassador Bello Ringhim, former Nigerian Ambassador to Malaysia and Director of COPENHAGEN, Nigeria.
The organisers expressed optimism that the International Investors Summit Nigeria 2026 would strengthen Nigeria’s position as an investment destination and create new opportunities for businesses, governments and international investors.
