His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, CON, Emir of Keffi, has inaugurated the Zakkat and Waqf Committee for the Keffi Emirate, charging members to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the management and distribution of resources meant for vulnerable members of society.

The inauguration, held on Sunday, is part of efforts by the Keffi Emirate to strengthen Islamic social welfare, promote responsible wealth distribution and provide meaningful assistance to people facing economic hardship.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Emir said the establishment of the committee had become necessary in view of the prevailing socio-economic challenges and hardships confronting many members of the community.

He explained that Zakkat and Waqf have important roles to play in alleviating poverty, supporting the less privileged and promoting social justice.

The monarch reminded members of the gathering that Zakkat is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, stressing that its proper collection and distribution could significantly improve the lives of people experiencing economic difficulties.

He therefore charged members of the newly inaugurated committee to manage the institution with sincerity, accountability, fairness and strict adherence to Islamic principles.

Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III urged the committee members to discharge their responsibilities with the fear of Allah, transparency, honesty, dedication and commitment.

He specifically directed them to ensure that Zakkat and Waqf resources are handled responsibly and distributed to rightful beneficiaries without discrimination, favouritism or injustice.

The Emir also issued a strong warning against mismanagement and abuse of office, saying any committee member found guilty of diversion of funds, misappropriation, abuse of office or any other form of misconduct would face appropriate legal action and full prosecution in accordance with the law.

He called on individuals, business owners, organisations and other members of the Keffi Emirate to support the initiative by contributing to the development and strengthening of the Zakkat and Waqf system.
