A new media organisation, One Great Nigeria Media, has commenced operations in Nasarawa State with a pledge to promote objective journalism, national unity and practical solutions to societal challenges.

The organisation, whose motto is “Together We Can,” was inaugurated on Saturday at the Nasarawa State e-Library in the GRA area of Keffi.

The event attracted stakeholders and other participants who welcomed the emergence of the new media platform.

The Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Muazu Emmanuel Oken, said One Great Nigeria Media was established as a nationalistic, politically neutral and solution-oriented media organisation.

He said the platform would focus on promoting Nigeria’s unity, greatness, inclusive democracy and quality social services.

Oken explained that the organisation’s mission was to seek solutions for a united, inclusive and quality-service Nigeria, while its vision was to ensure that Nigerians experience the benefits of such a society.

He said the media organisation would use journalism and creative communication to encourage citizens to look beyond identifying problems and focus more on finding solutions.

Oken also reflected on Nigeria’s independence, saying the country’s founding fathers laid the foundation for national development when Nigeria gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1960.

He likened Nigeria to a tree that requires fertile soil, deep roots and proper nurturing to provide sufficient shade and fruits for its people.

According to him, the organisation’s leading poem, “The Nigeria Tree,” adapted from the problem-tree concept, would serve as an intellectual tool for examining the causes and consequences of Nigeria’s challenges.

He stressed that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

“Let us take every given problem as our collective responsibility and channel our respective views and perspectives towards developing workable solutions,” he said.

Oken said the launch represented a commitment to building a media platform that would encourage constructive national conversations and contribute ideas toward addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

He further expressed optimism that Nigerians could collectively strengthen the foundations of the country by working together.

Stakeholders at the event commended the founder for establishing the media platform, saying its solution-oriented approach could contribute to addressing challenges affecting communities across Nasarawa State and the country.
