Delta State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged party leaders, campaign council members, stakeholders and supporters to shun hate speech, character assassination and false media propaganda against opposition parties and their candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oborevwori gave the directive on Thursday, October 22, 2026, while inaugurating the Delta State APC Campaign Council and unveiling “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.
The governor urged party members to adopt responsible political communication, avoid name-calling and focus on constructive criticism and issue-based engagement within acceptable democratic standards.

His position has attracted commendation from supporters who consider peaceful and responsible campaigning essential to sustaining political stability as electioneering activities gather momentum in the state.
Oborevwori, who also serves as National Treasurer of the APC Presidential Campaign Council chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, called on campaign council members to take the party’s message to the grassroots and mobilise voters across polling units, wards and local government areas.
Grassroots Mobilisation, Key to APC’s Success
The governor described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to demonstrate unity, discipline, dedication and commitment towards securing victory for Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He challenged party leaders and campaign coordinators to move beyond rallies and political meetings by engaging directly with voters, including market women, youths, workers, farmers and traders.
According to the campaign directives, door-to-door mobilisation and sustained interaction with residents should form a central part of the party’s campaign strategy.
Local government and ward coordinators were also urged to strengthen existing party structures, collaborate with support groups and ensure that the APC’s campaign message reaches every polling unit across Delta State.
Oborevwori Urges Campaigners to Highlight Achievements
The governor further emphasised the need for the APC to base its campaign on its achievements in government rather than personal attacks against political opponents.
He called on campaigners to communicate the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration alongside the achievements of his government under the M.O.R.E Agenda, which prioritises Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.
The areas highlighted for public engagement include infrastructure development, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.
Oborevwori stressed that government achievements must be effectively explained to the electorate, noting that delivering projects and implementing policies would not be enough if voters were not adequately informed about their impact.
He therefore urged campaign council members and party supporters to communicate the benefits of government programmes clearly and convincingly to residents across the state.
Governor Assures Deltans of Continued Governance
The governor also assured residents that political activities would not distract his administration from its responsibilities.
He promised that ongoing projects and development programmes would continue throughout the campaign period, signalling his administration’s intention to maintain its governance priorities while pursuing its political objectives.
Oborevwori’s directive places emphasis on balancing electoral mobilisation with the continued delivery of public services.
Call for Peaceful Political Engagement
The governor appealed to politicians, party supporters and other political actors to maintain peace, avoid inflammatory statements and ensure that political differences did not create unnecessary divisions among residents.
He reiterated the importance of responsible communication, urging APC campaign council members to conduct their activities in a manner that promotes democratic participation and peaceful coexistence.
With political activities gradually intensifying ahead of the 2027 general elections, the directives outline the campaign council’s expectations for grassroots mobilisation, party discipline and communication.
The APC’s MORE Plus campaign is expected to focus on presenting the achievements and policy direction of the Oborevwori administration while mobilising support for the party’s candidates across Delta State.
