The outreach, led by Dr Betta Edu, brought together female political leaders and stakeholders to engage patients, healthcare workers and vulnerable residents ahead of a planned campaign rally.

The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has extended its grassroots engagement to Kaduna State through a compassionate hospital outreach targeting patients, women, children and other vulnerable groups.

The programme, organised as part of activities preceding a planned campaign rally, followed a directive attributed to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the team to reach out to women and children receiving treatment in hospitals across the state.

Led by Dr Betta Edu, the delegation visited Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dansoho Memorial Hospital, where members interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators.

The delegation included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Senator Olujumi, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon. Ada Ode and Hon. Gloria Akobundu, alongside other members of the Directorate. The Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu, also participated in the outreach.

During the visits, the team conveyed a message of compassion and support to patients, particularly women and children facing health challenges.

Edu said the outreach provided an opportunity to highlight healthcare interventions introduced by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while acknowledging the need to improve access to affordable medical services.

“Our President has done a lot in the health sector and is working on more reforms that will provide affordable healthcare for Nigerians,” she said.

She cited maternal healthcare support for pregnant women in selected hospitals, including assistance covering delivery services, Caesarean sections and medicines, as well as interventions aimed at reducing the cost of renal dialysis and cancer care.

Edu also commended the First Lady for health-related programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly efforts to support midwives through training and improved equipment as part of measures to strengthen maternal healthcare and reduce maternal mortality.

The outreach also provided an opportunity for the Directorate to discuss the welfare of families and the importance of sustained support for vulnerable Nigerians.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the First Lady and the visiting delegation for the gesture. They also welcomed the administration’s reported student financing support through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which they said had helped ease the financial burden on families with children in school.

Some beneficiaries expressed support for the continuation of the maternal healthcare interventions, while the Directorate described the outreach as part of its wider community engagement programme.

The initiative combines humanitarian visits with public engagement on government policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with particular attention to women, children and families facing economic and health-related challenges.

The Kaduna hospital visits underscore the Directorate’s stated commitment to taking its activities beyond political gatherings and engaging directly with communities ahead of the planned rally.
