Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, has concluded plans to establish a political pressure group, the Latimore Political Forum (LPF), to promote grassroots political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The proposed forum is expected to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming electoral cycle.

Oghenesivbe disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, announcing that the forum would be formally launched soon, with Kokori and Agbon community in Ethiope Federal Constituency identified as its initial areas of operation.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots political participation, build community-level political networks and promote engagement around the APC’s programmes and political agenda.

The forum is expected to expand its activities beyond the initial communities to cover the wider Ethiope Federal Constituency, bringing together local stakeholders, political supporters, youths, women and other groups.

Oghenesivbe, a lawyer, communication strategist and Fellow of the Institute of Legal and Policy Studies (ILPS), is seeking to extend his experience in creative writing, public affairs messaging and strategic political communication into grassroots political organisation through the proposed platform.

Beyond political mobilisation, the Latimore Political Forum is also expected to pursue community-based empowerment initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and improving access to opportunities at the grassroots.

The proposed interventions include youth and women empowerment programmes, assistance for petty traders and artisans, as well as financial support for indigent students in the benefiting communities.

According to Oghenesivbe, these initiatives are intended to complement existing government interventions, particularly the MORE Agenda of the Oborevwori administration in Delta State.

The planned launch of the LPF comes as political activities and consultations begin to feature more prominently ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Further details concerning the forum’s formal inauguration, leadership structure and implementation of its proposed programmes are expected to emerge in due course.
