Akoko-Edo Stakeholders Visits Minister of Niger Delta, Momoh, seeks for Infrastructure Interventions

A Edo State prominent politician, Dele Elempe joined other critical stakeholders such as Rt. Hon. Peter Akpatason, member representing Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency and other leaders from Akoko-Edo axis paid a courtesy visit to Engr. Abubakar Momoh, the Federal Minister of Niger Delta Development.

According to Elempe, the leaders were at his office to congratulate him for his recent appointment and redeployment.

The visit also afforded the entourage to table issues of development before the minister which included but not limited to the rehabilitation of several roads in the Local Government Area, LGA, such as the Ososo-Okpella, Erhurun Uneme- Ojirami, Okpe, Atte, Imoga, Ikakumo, Auchi-Ibillo roads, as well as other roads that need interventions. The rehabilitation of the Ojirami Dam was mentioned as to be able to serve the entire Afemai District with pipe-borne water. Also mentioned was youth empowerment in terms of trainings, scholarships, vocational studies and skills acquisition.

The Hon. Minister thanked the entourage led by Rt. Hon. Peter Akpatason for the visit. He mentioned that so much work need to be done to address the infrastructural decay in the LGA, and that as a grassroot person, he is aware of the urgency to attend to them. He added that synergy between him and members representing the Afemai District such as Senator Adams Oshiomole, Rt. Hon. RT Hon Peter Akpatason, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere and others would be needed in terms of budgetary allocations to be able to address these very fundamental issues. He said he has not forgotten the root he came from in spite of the position hence has adopted the open door policy. And that the Akoko-Edo people can always reach him through any channel available.

There is no denying the conviviality of the visit and the amenable disposition of the Hon. Minister.

The visitation ended by the presentation of our demands and a life size congratulatory card to him.

Present in the entourage were Hon. Jemitola, Hon. Vincent Ojemu, Hon. Dare Roland, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, Comrade Elempe Dele, Hon Esi Christopher, Dr. Tony Aiyejina and a host of others. Engr. Fred Attah and Senator Domingo Obende were unavoidably absent.
