The candidate for the APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo state, Pastor Ize Iyamu and his deputy, Gani Audu are likely to face outright disqualification for presenting certificates with conflicting information.

The case is somewhat similar to that of the Bayelsa state elections where the supreme court had ruled that the deputy – Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo’s inconsistent names amounted to forgery and the discovery had cost the about-to-be sworn-in governor, David Lyon his seat.

As it stands, the ADP has filed a case in the Abuja high court praying the courts to disqualify the APC candidate for presenting forged documents and thereby, nullifying their candidacy in the forthcoming governorship elections billed to hold on the 19th of September.

As seen in the document presented to INEC, the deputy governorship candidate, in an affidavit submitted to INEC had written his name as Audu Abudu Ganiyu, but checks in his other documents show him bearing a different name totally.

Speaking, a lawyer with access to the documents, Mr. Blessed Omonuwa, confirmed that while the name on the affidavit was seen to be Audu Abudu Ganiyu, checks on his voter’s card revealed another name as Audu Abdul Ganiyu, still, other checks on his APC membership card gave another name as Gani Audu.

To compound matters, revelations also showed that on his WASSCE/GCE certificate, a totally different name – Audu Ahudu Ganeyu was used.

With these revelations, it will take a very rare kind of miracle to save the APC from being thrown out of the governorship race in Edo state.

With the recent desperation coming from both camps, it is rather shocking that the APC forgot to put its house in order before coming all out to challenge the incumbent.

While we wait on the decision of the court, the APC should pray hard or the Bayelsa case may befall them
