Anxiety As Supreme Court Delivers Judgement On Abaji APC chairmanship Wednesday

There is anxiety within the political camps of the Abaji area council chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Supreme court is set to deliver judgment tomorrow (Wednesday), on who is the authentic chairmanship flag bearer of the party between Hon Mohammed Angulu Loko and Abubakar Umar Abdullahi in the area.

Our correspondent observed that members and supporters of the APC within the two camps of Hon Mohammed Angulu Loko and Abubakar Umar Abdullahi have taken to social media to express diverse opinions on what the outcome of the verdict could be.

There is also anxiety among camps of elders and stakeholders of the APC in the area where they anticipate victory from the court judgment.

Global Times Nigeria, had reported that a five members panel of judges of the Supreme court led by Justice Alukayode Ariwoola, had on March 1, 2022, after the adoption of briefs from both counsels fixed Marc, 16, 2022 for judgment.

Our correspondent had reported that the INEC returning officer on February 12, 2022, in Abaji area council, Prof Gabriel Mordi, had declared APC winner of the election without announcing the candidate, at the commission office, in which he declared that APC scored 7, 289 votes to defeat the candidate of the opposition PDP, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, who got 4, 062 votes.

Prof Modi said the winner will be announced after the determination of the case before the court in Abuja.

Abdullahi, whose candidature was nullified by both FCT High court and the Appeal Court, in which Hon Mohammed Angulu Loko, was affirmed as the authentic flag bearer of the APC.

But dissatisfied with the two courts’ judgments, Abdullahi, again filed a suit before the Supreme court to challenge the rulings.

Recalled that Hon Mohammed Angulu Loko has filed a suit before an FCT High court sitting at Gudu district of Abuja, where he challenged his substitution by the INEC National Electoral Commission ( INEC) after he emerged as the winner of the April 23, 2,021 APC chairmanship primaries for the just-concluded February 12, 2022 council election in Abaji area council.

Both the FCT High court and Appeal court has ordered INEC to withdraw Abubakar Umar Abdullahi’s name and replace it with Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, who is the authentic APC chairmanship candidate for the just-concluded February 12, 2022, council election in Abaji area council.
