The Hon. Chairman, Kogi State office for Disability affairs, Hon. Arome Ibrahim has called on members of the Disability Community to participate actively in the political activities in the country most especially, the 2023 general elections.

Hon. Arome made the call while addressing media on the inclusiveness of the members in the political activities. He told newsmen that, President Muhammodu Buhari has shown them much love by establishing National Disability Commission to handle the affairs of persons with Disabilities.

He commended the leadership quality of President Muhammadu Buhari and APC for including persons with Disabilities in the political offices right from the national level to the grassroots.

He appreciates the leaders of All progressive Congress (APC) at the national and state level for including members of the Disability Community and making the nomination form free for intending aspirants who may desire to occupy an elective positions in the party.
He praised the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Yahaya Bello for appointing him as pioneer Chairman of the office and others who are saddled with the responsibility of running the affairs of the office and assured him of their commitment to deliver.

He encourage members of the Disability Community to participate by ensuring their voters cards are up to date to enable them vote and be voted for.

He further stated that , the era of complains is over as the All progressive Congress (APC) has given them an opportunity to contest and ensure their population count. He said Disabilities is never a barrier to participate fully in an active politics.

It is no longer time to use our disability as an excuse not to participate in every affairs of human endeavours.
What really makes a man/woman disabled is BARRIERS (social, economic, psychological, finance etc) now, APC has taking away the financial barriers and has made the Nomination form available for PWDs.

Secondly, disability is not a guarantee for us to practice anti-party activities. As a man or woman with Disability, we must be known for a political party from the grass root(our ward) to the National. Be a member of a political party with your membership card and have your PVC.

He said, It’s high time they demonstrate ABILITY IN their DISABILITIES politically.

To the APC which is the political party he belong, he stressed the need for continued support and appreciation to the party for harken to the request of the Disability Community in Nigeria within a short period of time and have announced that the forms are free for women and PWDs.

APC to me and to every persons with Disabilities in Nigeria who knows what we have pass through in this country in the area of discrimination and stigmatization has wiped our tears and President Muhammadu Buhari has changed our narrative in this Country. Today, we have National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.
