Breaking News: APC Suspends former Karu LGA Chairman, Samuel Akala
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Karu Local Government Area has suspended the former Chairman of the council, Samuel Akala Gajere from the party.
In a letter of suspension signed by the APC chairman of Karu Local government area, Samson Muntari and made available to newsmen in Karu, Saturday.
It will be recalled that on twelve June, 2023, the APC stakeholders in Karu Local government via a press conference disassociated themselves from what they described as unguarded comment made by the former Chairman of the council, Samuel Akala Gajere against the party and the state government interest on the leadership of seventh Nasarawa state house of Assembly.
Subsequently, the party under the leadership of Samson Muntari set up a seven man probe community to investigate the allegations leveled against Akala, which also acted based on a letter received the party officials of Panda/Kare electoral ward demanding the immediate suspension of Akala from the party, alleging that he involved in anti-party activities, disloyalty to the party constitution, and use of abusive words to disparage the character of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
“On 20th June, 2023, the committee through phone call conversation invited Hon Samuel Gajere Akala for a meeting to investigate the matter which he promise to appear before the committee on 1st July , 2023 and decline and ask the committee to send him an official letter.”
“The Committee invited both by phone call on 2nd July, 2023, and in writing on 4th July, 2023 respectively. A text message was also sent to him through the chairman of the party on 6th July, 2023 but he still declined to honour the invitation to appear before it.
Others allegation against him according to the party include, the refusal to honour the invitations of the probe panel after several letters and phone calls, which they said contravened section 21 sub 2 of the ALL Progressive Congress {APC} Constitution, which is punishable by law as well as his appearances on different National Television painting the image of the party black”.
The newsmen, intimated the APC chairman, of Karu on the need to shade more light on the matter, he said the party leadership agreed with report of the committee indicting Akala that was why the party affirmed the decision of the majority members of Panda/Kare electoral Ward who unanimously endorsed the suspension of Akala from the party.
In a swift reaction, the former Chairman of Karu Local Government Area, Samuel Akala, denied any wrong doing against the party, saying that he only received a letter from the APC chairman through a whatsapp communication inviting him to appear before a committee, saying that they did not followed a proper channel.
According to him, he’s not aware of any purported suspension, claiming to that he is and that his legal team will study the letter for necessary action.
