Environmental experts warns against degradation of Savannah region.

Environmental experts have warned against degradation of vegetables and grained known as Savannah region in the country.

A former president of the Society of Landscape Architects of Nigeria (SLAN) Mr, Bartho Ekweruo gave the warning at a two days workshop organized by SLAN in collaboration with Abuja Development Control, to chat ways in addressing the issue of climate change which he said is affecting the world.

Mr Ekweruo, who noted that human activities have greatly affected Savannah zones over the years, hence the need for landscape architects to use their knowledge of environmental resources in redesigning the environment inorder to restore land degradation that has affected ecosystem and livelihood in the country.

Also speaking at the workshop, the director, department of Development Control, Mr Hamza Tayyub, who was represented by a staff of the department, Mrs Hauwa Hassan, called on Nigerians to always inculcate the habit of tree planting.

She also promised continue to collaborate with society of SLAN and other stakeholders in the environmental sector to mitigate effect of climate change the Nation.

Our correspondent learnt that the landscape Architects are professionals whose practice emphasized harmonization of human development with nature.

Our correspondent report that the two days workshops ended with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of SLAN which was held at the green building of the ministry of environment, Abuja.
