Ex- Nasarawa Speaker Mohammed tasks 7th Assembly on unity, cordial relationship with executive

A two term Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and current Accountant General of the State, Rt. Hon (Dr) Musa Ahmed Mohammed, has advised members of the 7th assembly to live in unity and peace within themselves.

He also advised them to cooperate and maintain good working relationship with the executive arm in order to bring speedy development to the State and their various constituencies.

Dr Musa gave the advise when Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation visited his office on 2023 budget performance today in Lafia.

The former Speaker said that unity, peace within members and good working relationship with the executive arm will bring speedy development to the state.

He said that no meaningful progress and development will take place in an atmosphere of rancour.

” There will be know progress and development in the House and the State at large, if members are not in peace with each other and if members don’t have good working relationship with the executive arm.

” So I urge you to live in peace within yourselves and maintain harmonious and good working relationship with the executive arm,” he said.

The AG recalled on how his leadership as the Speaker of the 4th Assembly attempted to impeach the former governor of the state,

” I said it severally that, on behalf of myself and members of the 4th Assembly, I apologized to the people of Nasarawa State on the attempted impeachment, that no doubt brought some set back to the State.

” As there will be no development in the State where members are in rancour within themselves and with the Executive arm,” he said.

The AG promised to be accountable and transparent while discharging his duties.

” I am not a dubious and fraudulent man and by God’s grace I will not be as there is life after death.

” I will ensure transparency and accountability in carrying out my duties,” he added.

Ahmed extended hands of friendship to the committee and the House for the overall development of the State.

Earlier, Hon Hudu. A Hudu ( APC- Awe North) , Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation said that the exercise was to assess the State Accountant General office 2023 budget performance.

” We are here basically to perform one of the statutory function of the legislature. Apart from law making, the constitution has empowered us to oversight.

” We are here to assess your 2023 budget performance from January to date, ” he said.

Hudu said that the visit was not to witch hunt but to ensure that right things are done for the overall development of the State.

The committee chairman assured of their support to enable the office of the Accountant General and the state government succeed.
