FCT Polls: Ona of Abaji Urges Aspirants, Supporters On Peace

Ahead of chairmanship primaries slated for April, 22, 2021, the Ona of Abaji and chairman of the FCT council of traditional rulers, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has called on all chairmanship aspirants in the area to maintain peace and order during and after the primaries.
Alhaji Yunusa, who made the observation when he summoned all chairmanship aspirants and stakeholders of political parties for peace meeting in his palace, warned aspirants to caution their supporters over unguided utterances, which he said may ignited violence reaction from other opponent.
He said it was important for every chairmanship aspirants to understand that the era of using provocative and campaign of calumny by supporters has gone, rather, they should embarked on how to convince the people to vote for their candidate.
“And beside, we are in security challenge, hence, the energy your supporters will use in attacking each other either on social media should be channeled on how they will come together to tackle the security challenge,” he said.
The PDP chairmanship aspirant in the area, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Ashafa, appreciated the traditional ruler for his courage and concern he has shown to summon all the chairmanship aspirants to the palace to maintain peace before, during and after the election.

He requested that every aspirants should be giving equal treatment, saying there should no be threat to life of supporters of any aspirants or damage of properties as well as intimidation or arrest of opponents and supporters.
The meeting was attended by representatives of PDP stalwarts and elders of the ruling APC in the council, led by its chairman, Alhaji Attahiru Azza.
