First Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Clocks 365 Days In Office; Describes The Journey So Far As Very Eventful.

As the first Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Muhammed popularly called Bashir Gegu clocks One Year in Office today, he has described the journey so far as very eventful.

In an exclusive interview with GlobaltimesNigeria.com, Engr. Bashir Gegu said since his assumption of Office, the Ministry has witnessed rapid transformation, courtesy of the visionary leadership style of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.

He noted that the Ministry under his watch has recorded huge successes, pointing out that Kogi State is endowed with abundant natural resources.

“First of all I want to appreciate His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello the Executive Governor of Kogi State for finding me worthy to serve as the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources. So far, my one year in Office has been a wonderful, fruitful, successful and a memorable moment. In the past, Kogi State have not been recording anything as regards Solid Minerals development but when His Excellency through his foresight decided to create the Ministry, today we have success stories to tell regarding Solid Minerals development in State”

Engr. Bashir Gegu stressed that “today Kogi State can make boast of having clay, milestone among other sites in the State and we are gradually harnessing them. We’ve equally provided enabling environment for miners and other stakeholders to have a hitch free activities across the three Senatorial Districts of the State. For instance in the East, we have people mining coal, in the West, we have those mining gold and in the central, people are mining alkaline and other mineral deposites. It is worthy of note to also mention that Kogi State came second in terms of revenue generation from solid minerals – according to statistics. So we’ve recorded great success so far, kudos to Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who have given us such privilege”

The Commissioner noted that the Ministry is in touch with series of investors from various countries of the world, pointing out that in no distant time, the Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Ministry will become a force to be reckoned with in the State and the Country at large.

He commended the Management and other Staff of the Ministry for their relentless efforts at ensuring that all task aimed elevating the Ministry become a success, stressing that their cooperation and understanding have been unprecedented.
