It was jubilation at the camps of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as Shuaibu Abubakar Audu Foundation in collaboration with a Lagos based NGO, “The New Leaders”, distributed relief materials worth millions of naira to Kogi state flood Victims.
The Grand Patron of the Shuaibu Audu Foundation, (SAAF) Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, who was represented by the Chairman of the Foundation Hon. Daniel Idoko Ogecheko, in his message to the victims at various IDP camps, stated that the materials were just to cushion the effects of the devastation.
At Ibaji local government area, which was completely submerged by the flood, the Foundation alongside the “New Leaders”, provided some food items and other immediate succour to cushion the effects of the devastation caused by the flood.
A source close to the Grand Patron of the foundation, said the distribution of the relief materials coincided with the seventh years prayers of the death of his father, the late Prince Abubakar Audu, former Kogi state Governor.
It would be recalled that Prince Abubakar Audu was the Governorship Candidate of the APC in the November 2016 election and died before the official declaration of result by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, the All Progressives Congress, APC, State House of Assembly candidate for Ibaji state constituency, joined thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs) to welcome Officials of the Shuaibu Audu Foundation and the New Leaders, when they arrived the devastated Community.
The APC candidate said the gesture will go along way in providing succour and saving thousands of lives, following the havoc caused by the 2022 floods.
The renowned Kogi Woman politician appreciated the efforts of Shuaibu Abubakar Audu Foundation and The New Leaders relief support for the people affected by ravaging flood in the State.
The Shuaibu Audu Foundation was represented by it’s Chairman, Hon. Prince Daniel Idoko Ogacheko and a representative from the New Leaders, disclosed that the materials were worth millions of naira to be distributed to flood victims across the 3 Senatorial district.
Ogacheko also said the Shuaibu Audu Foundation, has made positive impacts in areas of health, education and infrastructural development.
The Chairman noted that the Shuaibu Audu Foundation had over the years commissioned various projects across Kogi State initiated by the foundation, ranging from renovation of schools, provision of potable water, empowerment of women and youths.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, women and youths appreciated the foundation for coming to their aid and pledged loyalty and support to enable it do more.
“Your good works across the State has depict your true personality and shown us where you came from and being a son of lion, late Adoja of the blessed memory”.
A Traditional Ruler, the Chief of Ejule-Ojeba community, HRH. Ukwuchome Joseph Ugwo, appreciated the foundation and encouraged the Grand Patron to remain focused, resolute and steadfast, and expressed optimism that he will reap the good works he has started.
The monarch described Shuaibu as a true son of his father the late Prince Abubakar Audu and architect of the present Kogi State.
Responding, the Chairman, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu Foundation, SAAF, Hon. Prince Daniel Idoko Ogacheko said the Grand Patron, Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu is committed to changing narrative by ensuring sustainability of his late father’s legacies, in addition to giving priority to his people just as his late father was known for.
Ogacheko advised them to keep championing the course of peace and never indulge in anything that will bring chaos in their communities.
He promised to relay their message to the Grand Patron of the Foundation, Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu.
The Shuaibu Audu’s foundation was also in Ajaokuta to provide immediate succour to flood victims.
In a lead of appreciation, some community leaders from Ajaokuta LGC have equally applauded Alhaji Shuaib Abubakar Audu’s gesture, generosity and largesse geared towards redeeming the pains experienced during the flooding in the State.
Contributing, women, youths and elders showered encomium on the Grand Patron, Shuaib Abubakar Audu Foundation, describing his efforts as the best thing that had happened in their domain.
The group also pledged their total loyalty, support and solidarity as they prayed for the success of his foundation.
At Lokoja Local Government Area, the Shuaibu Abubakar Audu Foundation alongside other members of the foundation were at Adankolo community, precisely the residence of HRH. Chief David Aibe Agbayi II, Etsu of Adankolo to officially notify him of their present in his domain.
Chairman of the Foundation, Prince Daniel Idoko Ogacheko told the traditional ruler that this same organisation had in some days back distributed relief materials to flood victims from Ibaji East, Ajaokuta Central and Lokoja West respectively.
Ogacheko while sympathizing with Lokoja flood victims, calling on well to Nigerians to come to their aid.
On his part, HRH. Chief David Aibe Agbayi II, Etsu of Adankolo thanked Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu for providing his people with relief materials to cushion the effect.
He prayed God to protect Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu and as well grant him heart desired and to enable him to finish all the good works he has started.
Some women and beneficiaries who received relief materials expressed happiness with the donation and pray for his foundation’s success.
In another development, Late Former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu’s 7 years death anniversary held today with dignitaries from all walks of life converge at his GRA Lokoja residence for a special prayers.
Our correspondent reports that Prince Abubakar Audu had passed away 7 years ago on Sunday, November 22nd, 2016.
Today marks his 7th Death Anniversary.
Prince Abubakar Audu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2015 Kogi state election which was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, died on Sunday, 22nd November, 2015.
Prince Abubakar Audu, was the first Executive Governor of Kogi State was born on 27th of October 1947, to the family of his Royal Highness, the late Pa Audu Oyidi, Orego Atta of Igala Land and the paramount ruler of Ogbonicha-Alloma in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Prince Abubakar Audu (born 1947) was twice the Governor of Kogi state. His first tenure was from January 1992 until November 1993 and the second from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.
Among those who paid tribute to the former Governor of Kogi State includes, Kogi State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Hon. Salihu Idachaba accompanied by some leaders from eastern flank of the State
Alhaji Tijani Isiaka Alfa, clergymen, women, supporters and well-wishers in their numbers gathered at his Lokoja residents to offer prayer for his peaceful repose.
