The Odengi Grassroots Support Group in collaboration with the FCT support group coordination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Tinubu/Shettima in February, 25, 2023 presidential election has empowered over 50 women groups with undisclosed cash, wrappers, bags of salts, cartons of Maggi and among others in Abaji area council of Abuja.
The director of women affairs of the APC campaign council in the FCT, Hajiya Farida Odengi Suleiman, while speaking during the empowerment in Abaji on Wednesday, said the gesture was aimed at appreciating the women groups in the area for unwavering commitment and support to the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tibunu.
She said the women groups across ten political wards, have even before the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tibunu wins the party’s ticket, have been moving to all nook crannies of the council to mobilize support for Tinubu and other candidates of the party in the area.
According to her, the grassroots support have also replicated the same gesture to women groups across other area councils in the FCT.
“So today, what we are doing is to appreciate the groups not only in Abaji but across the area councils of the FCT for their commitment and support for APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tibunu, which by the grace of God, APC shall emerge victorious on Saturday, “she said.
Suleiman, who is also the senior special assistant to the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello on special duties, added that the women across ten political wards of Abaji, have been tasking themselves to mobilized support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the FCT ahead of Saturday polls.
Also speaking, a chieftain of the APC who is also the party’s chairmanship aspirant in the last council election in the area, Alhaji Kamal Adamu Shuaibu, commended the grassroots support for empowering women in the area.
He, therefore, called on the women to ensure they come out enmass to vote for Tinubu/Shettima and all the APC candidates during the Saturday election in the area.
“And I want to reiterate once again here, especially our women come on Saturday, they should come out in their numbers to vote for APC from top to bottom,” he said.
