In Nasarawa, I47 electoral ward councilors backs Speaker Balarabe led 7th NSHA Leadership

The forum of councillors representing 147 electoral wards from 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State on Monday, declared their unflinching support and loyalty to the incumbent Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe.

Receiving the LGAs lawmakers,
Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi encouraged them close rank with their executive chairmen positively to initiate policies and programmes that will bring development closer to the rural dwellers.

Speaker Balarabe who represent Umaisha/Ugya state constituency of Toto LG gave the charge while hosting the Forum of Nasarawa State Local Government Councilors today in Lafia.

Addressing the principal Officers who stood in for the 147 councilors across the 13 LGAs in the State, the Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi said the rural dwellers are in need of dividends of democracy and the only way government presence will be felt is for the councilors to engage executive chairmen positively on issues of human empowerment.

” Always engage your chairmen positively, support and partner them to attract development to your areas for the overall progress of your various wards,” he said.

On the issues presented by the forum, the Speaker, said he was surprised that only one million naira is being given to the local government councilors as impress instead of 2 million as he directed, promising to parley with Local government chairmen to ascertain why the non implementation of the directive.

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi also wondered why the local government councilors are not being given Waldrop allowances, assuring that he will stimulate the local government executive arms in that wise, promising the councilor that they will soon be mobilized for training to enhance their legislative performances for productivity.

Earlier, the Acting Chairman of the Councilor’s Forum, Hon Philibus Yohanna Attah thrown their weight behind the emergence of Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi as the Speaker of the seventh assembly, calling on other state lawmakers, who are yet to be inaugurated by the Speaker to avail themselves for the ritual to stabilize the state assembly for peace and development of the state.

He enumerated their challenges to the Speaker which included allowance and other benefits from their Chairmen for Speaker’s intervention.
