Part of effort to curb unemployment tendencies and idleness among the women folks in Kogi State, the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Rasheedat Yahaya Bello has changed the narrative using her foundation to add value to the most vulnerable set in the society.

The Governor wife on Tuesday 2nd February, 2021 empowers about 120 women with different items ranging from hair dressing, knitting, cloth weaving, catering, set of computers and industrial tailoring machines in Okene Local Government Area and the programs was Sponsor by Rasheedat Bello Foundation.

The beneficiaries were carefully selected from the eleven wards of the council had earlier completed an intensive vocational training at Rasheedat Bello Foundation Skills Acquisition Centre in Okene, Kogi State. The centre is under the supervision of wife of Okene Local Government Chairman, Hajia Sefiya Abdulrazaq.

In her welcome address, the coordinator of the program and wife of Okene Local Government Chairman, Hajia Sefiya Abdulrazaq presented the 120 trainees to the First Lady as the pioneer students of the centre. According to the chairperson, 33 women were trained on tailoring, 7 on knitting, 3 on cloth weaving, 28 on hair dressing, 32 on catering and 17 on various segments of computer studies.

She expresses gratitude to the First Lady for the gesture and promise on behalf of the women that the items will be judiciously put to use.

The sponsor of the program, Hajia Rasheedat Bello said her office had established the Skills Acquisition Centre as part of efforts to give women and young ladies the opportunity to acquire skills and be self reliance.

She congratulates the beneficiaries and charged them to extends the training acquired to other members in their various communities.
