Kogi Guber: SDP candidate urges electorate to vote out APC for inflicting hardship.

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja

The Social Democratic party, (SDP), Kogi state chapter, has urged the people of the state to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) government that has inflicted hardship, hunger and general fear of uncertainty.

Hon Sam Ranti Abenemi, the running mate to the SDP Governorship candidate for the November election, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing thousands of supporters at Adankolo in Lokoja local government area.

He also renewed the call on the prospective voters to approach the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to obtained their permanent voter cards (PVC) to vote out a government or party that has inflicted unimaginable poverty and infrastructural deficit on them .

Hon. Abenemi, repeated the call while addressing a mamoth crowd of supporters and spectators at Mami market of the Army barracks, Otikiti housing estate, Army signal and the new layout which constituted Ward ‘A’, the largest ward in Lokoja.

He assured that democracy will flourish in Kogi state with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ,Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a renown Democrat in power.

Abenemi, who was a one time democratically elected executive Chairman of Lokoja local government from 1987-1998 during the military era, on the platform of defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP), pleaded with the people to vote for Murtala Ajaka and the SDP to effect positive change in the state.

He promised that the SDP administration will focus on empowerment of women and youths to utilize their talents for productive ventures that will make them self-employed and self-reliant.

According to the Running mate to the SDP governorship candidate, over 30,000 women across the twenty one local government areas would benefit from the first phase of the empowerment scheme. The beneficiaries will receive N500,000 each to enable them invest in various businesses of their choices.

On Agriculture, Abenemi expressed high hopes for the Youths, whom he said will be encouraged to utilize the
blessed arable land for mass food production by provisions of input and financial support.

He noted that the state is equally blessed with mineral resources as well as other human potentials like bubbling Youths, would be engaged to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the state.

While lamenting the hardship being faced by the populace, occasioned by the irregular or percentage salary payment to workers and public primary school teachers over the last seven years under the leadership of the present administration, the Social Democratic party deputy Governorship running mate, promised to revert the ugly situation.

He disclosed that the SDP is in full support of the Local Government Autonomy and if granted, workers and pensioners will regain their lost glories.
