Kogi LGC Election: APC Allocates Local Government Council Leadership To Women In The 21 Local Government Areas

A head of the December 12 local government council election, the ruling All Progressives Congress  (APC) in Kogi state on Friday announced that only women will head the legislative arm of the various local government councils.

The resolution was announced by the Governor and leader of the APC in Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, at the stakeholders meeting held  in the Government House, Lokoja, assuring that the party will follow all legal procedures in achieving this goal.

The ruling APC in the state had earlier also adopted the 35 percent affirmative action for women in the selection of candidates for the forthcoming council polls in the state. The latest move has further given morale to inclusive governance being clamoured for across the country.

Already running mates of the 21 Chairmanship candidates of APC are women as dictated by the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who is being hailed as the most female friendly Governor.

Some analysts complained that the decision is undemocratic and their is need for concesus to accommodate the culture of the people
