Lokoja Based Activist Condemns Shootings, Frequent Treat To Lives, Property

The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, (CHRCR), Lokoja, kogi state, Idris Miliki Abdul, has condemned in all its ramifications, the continued looting of warehouses and the subsequent shooting that characterized Lokoja the state capital on Monday 26, 2020

He said, a situations where armed men suspected to be hoodlums are moving around the state capital freely and shooting at innocent citizens, is a very dangerous trend that would not allow for peaceful coexistence of citizens.

He however, questioned the rational of keeping the relief materials meant for Covid-19 and flood victims that have ravage lives and properties in kogi state.

Miliki said the killing of some persons and the shooting of Emmanuel Adeyemi, the Sun Newspaper correspondent, must be investigated and perpetrators brought to book, in the interest of justice.

The state reads “The Monday 26 October episode reinforce our called for urgent and immediate reopening of federal Medical Center in Lokoja, a situation where such an important medical center and one of the best health institution in the state have been closed down for upwards of three months and the state government is practically doing nothing is wrong, worrisome and condemnable in a civilise society.

He said it’s the citizens of the state who are also the electorates that are being subjected to ridicule through the continued closure of the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja.

He said the state have witness a pattern of violence that is worrisome, saying that diligent investigations needed to be carried out by relevant institutions, to bring the situation under control.

“We call on the citizens to stop these unnecessary looting that have pervaded our country in the last few weeks. We call on the state and federal government to entrenched good governance, rule of law and Justice for all.
