The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has pledged its total support to the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Sule in the areas of youth and sport development.
This, the committee on youths and sports said was to tackle youths restiveness and improve on the standard of living of the youths across the state.
Hon. Salihu Musa Iyimoga (ZLP-Doma North), the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports gave the assurance when the Ministry for youth & Sports Development appeared before the committee to defend tis 2021 budget proposal at the assembly complex in Lafia today.
He said that the committee’s support to the ministry would go a long way in tackling youths restiveness and unemployment as well as would improve on the standard of living of the youths.
“We will give you our full support in order to ensure that you succeed.
” As youths are the back borne of every society,” he said.
Iyimoga thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in initiating various youth programmes which was aimed at tackling youths restiveness in the state.
“Our youths have talents and focused. We all witnessed their conducts during the recent EndSARS protest across states of the federation . We must commend them and stand for them.
“Thanks to our governor, His Excellency, Engr. A A Sule for having the interest of the youths who are the bedrock of the society.
” I urge you to come up with more viable activities that will engage them, improve on the standard of living of our youths so as to pull them off the streets.
On his part, the Commissioner for youth and sports Development , Hon Othman Bala Adam thanked the committee for supporting its activities and called for its sustenance.
He has appealed for more funds to carter for the various sporting activities in which the ministry intend to embark upon.
Meantime, the DG, Nasarawa State Youths Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) Abdulahi Labaran Maina led his members before the committee to defend its 2021 budget proposal.
He commended the committee for given their much needed support to its activities and called for its sustenance.
The committee chairman, Hon Salihu Iyimoga assured the management of NAYES of his continued support to enable them succeed.
