Nasarawa Assembly begins Investigation into LG Finances as AG, Commissioner, others appears before Ad-hoc committee.

The Nasarawa State Accountant General, Mr Zakka Yakubu, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon Yusuf Aliyu Turaki, Permanent Secretary and (DFA) of the Ministry of Local Government, today appeared before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee investigating the finances of Local Government Areas and lack of development at the grassroots.

This followed the full commencement of investigation by the committee.

Hon Abdullahi Dahiru Angibi, the Chairman of the 9 man Ad-hoc Committee and Chairman, House Committee on Public Account said that the appearance of the government officials was to enable the committee get true position on the local government finances in the state.

He said that the committee was set up by Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House after the House passed a resolution to that effect on the matter of public importance.

He said that the committee will not witch hunt anybody but will unravel the true position of local government finances in the state.

” This committee began its inaugural sitting last week and today we invited you to tell us what you know on local government finances and lack of development at the grassroots in the state.

” You should be sincere on what you will tell this committee as you are speaking under oath and you will be responsible for your statement, ” he said.

Angibi called on the affected government officials to give the committee their maximum cooperation to enable them discharge their duties without hitches.

” We want to assure you of fto fairness and justice while doing our job as we are going to do our job devoid of sentiments. He added.
