Nasarawa Assembly Commences 2021 Budget Defence, Begin With Judiciary

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has commenced the 2021 budget defence exercise for Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs)  of the State today.

The House Standing Committee on Judiciary commenced the exercise when management of some MDAs from the Judicial Arm appeared before the committee for their 2021 budget defence at the Assembly Complex in Lafia.

The acting chairman of the Committee, Barr. Ibrahim Mohammed Alkali (APC- Lafia North) described budget defence exercise as one of the constitutional responsibilities of the state assembly.

” The State Assembly has the constitutional mandate to ask question on MDA’s budget that is before the assembly, hence the need for this exercise,” he said.

Barr. Alkali assured of the assembly determination to do justice to the 2021 budget to enable the state government deliver more dividend of democracy to the people and solicited the support of MDAs for the timely and success of the exercise.

Earlier,  Ishaka Usman  (Solicitor General) for Ministry of Justice, Musa Suleiman Wakili (DFS) representing the chairman, Judicial Service Commission and  Barrister  Isa Ebini Kana (ESQ) and his counterpart Barr. Bala Rabo Ayaga led the delegation of the Customary Court and Sharia Court of Appeal respectively.

They have thanked the committee members for  supporting their activities and called for its sustenance.
