Nasarawa Assembly committed to robust energy with executive, judiciary to enhance development / good governance

…..Says 5 bills was successfully attended to during wednesday sitting.

As 6th Nasarawa State House of Assembly gradually come to an end, the members are working assiduously to ensure it’s deliver on it mandates and campaign promises to the electorate who elected them in 2019.

This, the assembly has re-affirmed it’s maximum commitment to enhance collaboration with the executive and judicial arms of government in an efforts to fast track development in the state.

Rt. Hon brahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House restated the House commitment while attending to 5 bills during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker said that effective partnership among the three arms of government in the State was responsible for the laudable achievements recorded by Gov. Abdullahi Sule hence the need to improve on that.

He said that the House would continue to give executive and other bills all the necessary support to ensure their passage for the overall development of the State.

The Speaker during the House proceedings today Wednesday announced the passage into second reading a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Nasarawa State Bureau of Statistics Law No.84 of 2012 and Re-Enact Same 2022 and Other Matters Related Thereto.

The Speaker said that the bill was all about collecting qualitative data which would aid the state government in planning purposes for development.

He, therefore committed the bill to the House standing committee on Public Account and that of Finance and Appropriation to work on the bill and report to the House next week, Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.

Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the bill to scale second reading.

Hon Abel Bala the Minority Leader seconded the motion.

The House unanimously passed the bill into second reading.

The House during the Wednesday’s sitting received the report of the House Standing Committee on Water Resources and Rural Development on a Bill For a Law to Provide For the Supply and Sanitation of Water in Nasarawa State and other Matters Connected Therewith.

The report was presented by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Vice Chairman of the committee.

The Speaker slated next week Tuesday, 30th May, 2023 for the deliberation of the report.

Similarly, the House recieved the report of the House Standing Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges on a Bill For a Law to Amend Nasarawa State Customary Courts Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith which was presented by Hon John Osewu, the Chairman of the committee.

The Speaker slated next week Tuesday, 30th May, 2023 for the deliberation of the report.

In the same vain, the House received the report of the Ad-hoc Committee on a Bill For A Law to Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Law and Other Related Matters.

Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, the Chairman of the committee presented the report.

The Speaker slated next week Tuesday, 30th May, 2023 for the deliberation of the report.

The House also slated next week Tuesday, 30th May, 2023 for third reading on a bill For a Law For the Establishment of the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga and Other Matters Connected Thereto.

Rt.
