Nasarawa Assembly to give legal backing to Vocational and Technology Institute Lafia.

…..Says it will end youth restiveness, unemployment, boost IGR.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into second reading a bill for a Law to Establish the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia and Other Matters Connected Therewith.

The House said that the bill, if finally passed into law and assented to would give the Institute legal backing in the training of youths in different skills acquisition programmes.

Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the bill into second reading during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The House also said that the Institute would generate revenue to the coffer of the state government.

” This bill will help in reducing youth restiveness, unemployment and boost the revenue base of the state,” he said.

The Speaker then committed the bill to the House committee on Education to work on it and report back to the House in four weeks time.

In their contributions, Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House, Hon Jacob Kudu, Hon Barr Esson Mairiga, Hon Mohammed Isimbabi, Hon Larry Ven Bawa, Hon Hajara Danyaro and Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara said that the bill would address youth restiveness and boost the revenue base of the state.

They have also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for initiating the bill and assured of the House readiness to support the bill to see the light of the day.

Earlier, Hon Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, the Majority Leader of the House while giving the substance of the bill has appealed to Honourable members to support the bill to scale second reading.

The Majority Leader of the House said that the bill would give the school legal backing for the overall development of the state.

Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House seconded the motion for the bill to scale second reading.

The House unanimously passed the bill into second reading.
