Nasarawa Assembly urge contractors handling Toto/Umaisha 48.7KM road to do a good job, complete it within the time frame

Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on works has advised the contractor handling the upgrading of 48.7KM Toto/Umaisha road to do a good and ensure it complete it within the time frame.

The lawmakers commended the contractor for a quality work done, however, lamented over slow pace of work.

Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Chairman House Committee on Works stated this when lead other committee members to assess the ongoing road construction in Toto local area of the State.

Hon Azara said that the inspection was not to witch hunt any contractor but to ensure that it delivered the job based on specifications.

According to him, I am very happy seeing you working diligently but redouble your efforts. I will not take it likely if I come here again and see slow pace of work.

” We are here to inspect the rehabilitation and upgrading of the 48.7KM Toto/Umaisha road in order to assess the level of work done by the contractor.

” as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to oversight the activities of MDA.

” And Mr Speaker, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has directed all the House standing committees to oversight MDAs under them, hence the need for this inspection visit, ” he said.

Hon Azara said that the committee would continue to inspect projects across the state in order not to allow contractors short changed the state government.

” We want to make sure that contractors adhere strictly to their project specifications by ensuring that quality and standard jobs are delivered.

” We also want to make sure that what contractors recieved from the state government is commesurate with the work done, ” he said

Hon Azara urged the contractor to put more efforts toward the completion of the Umaisha / Toto road because the project is very dear to their hearts as it is from Mr Speaker’s Constituency.

He urged the management of the ministry of works to continue to intensify efforts in supervising projects across the state.

The committee chairman assured the state government of its support to enable it succeed in proejct executions.

On his part, Hon Muazu Goshu, the Commissioner for Works appreciated the committee and state government for prioritizing roads constructions across the state.

The commissioner also urged the contractor to redouble his efforts in ensuring timely completion of the work.

He assured of the ministry’s commitment to supervise projects to ensure that quality works are delivered based on their specifications.

The project contractor assured of completing the work according to its specifications.
