Hon Umar Tanko Tunga is the Majority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Wednesday recommended for the need for Nigerians to use their differences in tribes, religious, social and political divide towards ensuring sustained and consolidated peace and development.

He said unity and peace were source of strengths for the nation and call for sustained effort in order to keep the country working.

Hon Tunga (APC Awe North) who was speaking when members of United Women for Peace and Development Initiative(UWPI) INT”L paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lafia today Wednesday urged them not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians for personal gains instead they should remain committed to their peace initiative for a better nation.

The women forum and Non Governmental Organisation was led by its National President, Aisha Abdullahi Hudu.

The majority leader, who expressed happiness with the aims of the NGO, has assured of his readiness to support them to succeed.

” I want to appreciate your zeal and courage for this peace initiative, as mothers are custodians of every home and to come up with such initiative it is wonderful and commendable because when society is peaceful every other thing can be guaranteed”

” This initiative is laudable because Nigeria today is seriously in dire need of peace. As citizens of the country we have no any other country than Nigeria.

” Let’s continue to embrace peace as where there is peace, there will be development.,” he said.

” We are abusing our differences that suppose to be our source of strength for the reasons best known to us”Hon Tunga added.

The Majority Leader also urged the women to continue to adhere strictly to their religious faiths in the interest of the association and for the overall development of the country.

Earlier, Mrs Aisha Abdullahi Hudu, the National President of the NGO said that the visit was to intimate the major leader on the aims of the association toward peace promotion in the country.

” Our decision to pay this courtesy call at this first time after we resume office is to show how we value your contributions to development and cause of women, less privileged and the youths in general.

” We have decided to enlarge the union to include women from other tribes to show that Nigeria belongs to everybody and that search for peace involved every tribes.

” We have plan to have our programe launching of UWPI, INT’L and His Excellency. the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule will be the Chief Launcher and Special Guest of Honour.
