Nasarawa Speaker Mourn Ekiti Speaker, Afuye who passed away at 66.

Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has expressed profound sadness over the passage of the Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna and made available to Global Times Nigeria, the Speaker Said with Afuye’s passage the Ekiti State have lost a great Patriot.

Condoling the Government and people of Ekiti State, Speaker Balarabe said the Speaker’s forum had lost one of its finest brains who devoted his life to service of the State, nation and humanity.

Balarabe Abdullahi who represent the people of Umaisha/Ugya described passing of Ekiti Speaker as shocking, painful and colossal.

“What a sad news, He just reminded us about his daughter’s wedding yesterday. I am at lost and dumbfounded. May God forgive his shortcomings and give the family the fortitude to bear this huge loss, very sad”

Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi who described the late lawmaker as a man of honour, peace and integrity said he died at a time his service is needed most especially now that the State have a new Governor that he was suppose to be one of his guide to consolidate on the State developmental strides.

He noted that God gives life and take at his appointed time and urged the government and people of the State, friends and associates to see his demise as an act of God and continue to pray for the repose of his soul.

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye died Wednesday as a result of brief illness after suffering from Cardiac related issues at that State Teaching Hospital EKSUTH Ado Ekiti at the age of 66.

The Government of Ekiti State has declared 7days Mourning with flag thrown at half mass.

The late Speaker was elected and inaugurated as the Speaker of the 6th Ekiti State House of Assembly on 6th June, 2019.

He was a Former Commissioner for Information and Two-Time Member of the State Assembly.
