NASENI Makes Headway In COVID-19 Pandemic Research — Prof Mohammed

Vice-Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna has said that his agency has carried out credible research and development on the management and prevention of Covid-19 in the country.

Prof. Haruna said this in a statement released by Director Press Affairs, Otuyemi Adetayo, during a presentation he made at the joint meeting of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and The Federal Ministry of Health on Covid-19 pandemic during the week in Abuja.

According to Prof. Haruna, some key inventions by the agency include environmental disinfectant safety sprayers like NASENI Disinfectant safety tunnel which could disinfect about 150 people per hour and is made up of safe materials that are not harmful to humans.

He highlighted the Disinfectant Safety Tunnel he added, which could be mounted at the entrance of public places, therefore disinfecting people at the entrance of public places.

Other inventions include the single-chamber disinfectant sprayer, Keke NASENI disinfectant Sprayer, and also disinfectant
Sprayers mounted on both trucks and Hilux vans. He added, they were locally designed and produced by NASENI Engineers to sanitize Nigerian cities and towns against contamination by the Virus.

Notable among the innovations include the use of 3D technology to produce face masks and protective gear, which are of global standard and could be mass-produced in Nigeria, thereby creating jobs and wealth.

According to Prof. Haruna, the agency has successfully reversed- engineered mechanical ventilators and is embarking on researching on advanced level ventilators to manage complicated respiratory challenges during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.
