On behalf of the Ijaw Youth Must Move Forward (IYMMF). I want to use this medium to call on the Youths of Niger Delta to come together as one and save our region from the hands of Corrupt Politicians who have vowed to perpetually underdeveloped, impoverished and continually loots the commonwealth of the region to scorned. We must rise and take our destiny by our hands.

The members of the National Assembly of the Niger Delta extraction has mortgage the people of the region for their personal aggrandizement. Months ago, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a FORENSIC AUDIT of the NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION NDDC (the cash cow of politicians) books from 2001 to date and the order was greeted with several forms of resistance.

While the activities of the exercise were ongoing, it was divulged that a member of the NASS secured 300 CONTRACTS from the Commission and speculation has it that out of the 300 contracts, 120 have been fully paid without proof of job completion.

Rumours also have it that contracts worth billions of Naira was awarded to another NASS member amongst the contracts are installation of Solar street lights in Afiesere Town in Ughelli North, Ibusa Town Oshimili North Delta and Bayelsa State respectively, constructions of roads and bridges and other projects across the Niger Delta regions. The worst of the story is that with the numerous jobs that were secured by this NASS Members under different names with full payment options, the recipients of this contracts barely execute the projects thereby subjecting the citizens of the region to unemployment, hunger, poverty, infrastructural decay, underdevelopment and mental enslavement.

It is so unfortunate to see some of our Niger Deltans especially youths blaming the North and other regions for our underdevelopment and predicament, while it’s so clear to us to understand that our regional leaders and representatives are the architects of our afflictions.

Meanwhile, there are millions of graduate/skilled personnel’s with different categories of Certificates in the region without a tangible means of existence as a result of the ill-will of selfish elites within the region. The above is just a few out of the numerous cases as alleged by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC.

To cover up their nefarious acts done in the Commission from the said period of the audit exercise, the NASS members that are involved in the scandals of securing contracts from the NDDC with full payment without execution of contract hurriedly came up with the probe panel saga of the NDDC Interim Management Commission (IMC) charged with the responsibility of overseeing the audit. Targeted at frustrating the activities of the forensic audit exercise.

It’s now crystal clear that the National Assembly is the problem of Nigeria, during the 8th Assembly the Nation’s budget that was presented by President Muhammadu Buhari at the floor of the NASS disappeared, the Ag. Managing Director of the NDDC Prof. Pondei alleged that NASS delayed the passage of the NDDC appropriation 2019 till a month to the expiration of the budgetary year as a result of the NDDC Management not agreeing to the evil biddings of the NASS members, and the 2020 budget of the NDDC still facing the same fate. Who are the enemies of the Niger Delta?

It was further revealed during the NASS NDDC Interim Management Committee probe by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs that most of the contracts awarded in the NDDC are taking by NASS members.

Based on the above premise, I once again call on the Youths of the Niger Delta, NGO’s, CSO’s and every well-meaning Sons and Daughter of the Niger Delta to rally round the Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei led IMC of the NDDC with the necessary supports to actualizing Mr President’s directive of cleansing and repositioning the Commission for utmost service delivery in line with its established goals.

We must not allow these corrupt politicians to kill the NDDC. It belongs to us all, the resignation by the committee chairmen of the NASS probe panel is a clear indication of the involvement of NASS members in the rots of the Commission. While the activities of the NASS in respect to the IMC probe last, I equally call on the NASS leadership to set up a committee to probe the past and present committee Chairmen of the NASS on NDDC.

Niger Delta Youths, do something before something do us, let’s call a spade, a spade. Why do you allow yourselves to be continually fooled?

Thanks and God bless the Niger Delta

God bless the NDDC and

God bless the Ijaw Youth Must Move Forward.

Comrade Navy T. Stephen

President
