NUJ advises FG on peace building among Nigerians before transiting to new Govt.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi state Council, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh, has urged the Federal Government to embark on aggressive sensitization and mobilisation of the citizens towards peace and national unity.

What the country need now is effective mobilisation of the citizens especially before, during and after the transition processes ushering in the new administration.

Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh gave the advice on Thursday when he received a delegation from National Orientation Agency (NOA) , in his office at the NUJ press centre Lokoja.

The state Council Chairman of the NUJ, warned Nigerians against deregotary and divisive utterances that are capable of inciting violence, disunity and confusion.

He therefore advised Politicians to consider Nigeria first before any other consideration as without the nation none can forward him or self for any appointment or seek positions.

Earlier, the State Director, National Orientation Agency,Kogi office, Mrs Florence Yemisi Oloronnmisihola, represented by Mr. Patrick Edogbanya, the state Deputy Director of the agency, said the delegation was at the NUJ in compliance with the directives of Director General, Garba Abari, to embark on peace building of the people.

The Director informed the Journalists that the agency’s mandate is to mobilise Nigerians for peace building so as to re unite them especially after the keenly contested general elections.

According to the Director, the agency has so far reached out to traditional rulers, religions leaders and followers as well as business and social groups in the bid to discriminate the message of peace building among Nigerians.

The NOA boss in the state who appealed to the press for their usual cooperation with the agency also commended the Journalists over the ethical and professional conducts in the discharge of their duties.
