Obaseki’s Trip Abroad and Matters Arising.

Our Benin correspondent has gathered from sources close to the corridors of power in the Edo State Government House that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki’s recent disappearance from the public is connected to an eye surgery he has gone abroad to undertake.

This the source said was not the first time he has gone for the eye problem that was said to be cataract. It was gathered that the surgery was performed recently but developed a complication which necessitated his return for correction.

Although all efforts for us to reach his number has proved abortive, when our correspondent asked a palace chief about the authenticity of the news, he said, “tell your governor to remove yes ‘eyes’ from the Oba Palace artefacts.”

Our correspondent also gathered that the governor’s relative who won the Oredo LGA primaries was positioned there to further fight the Oba of Benin. Another Chief which was interviewed under anonymity said that the Benins will work against that Obaseki’s relative to make sure he does not win the LGA election.
