On The Non Implementation Of  FG Financial Autonomy: Parliamentary Staff Shuts Down Nasarawa Assembly, Urges Governors To Do The Needful

Members of the Nasarawa State leadership of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) , has today joined the nationwide indefinite strike called upon by its national body.

This, the members of the association have shut down the state House of Assembly,  Lafia.

Financial Autonomy: PASAN To Shutdown States If Assembly Financial Autonomy Is Not Implemented.

Comrade Danlami Nuhu Iliyasu, the State Chairman of PASAN while addressing newsmen in Lafia appealed to the 36 state governors to respect the Executive Order 10 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in order to implement the financial autonomy for state Houses of Assembly.

“We have respected and  joined the strike as directed by PASAN national body. The gate of this Assembly will remain closed until we receive another directive from our national body.

” As long as we did not receive any further directives from the National body, the gate will remain closed.

” Financial autonomy is constitutional and we want to appeal to governors to respect Executive Order 10 on financial autonomy as signed by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.

The PASAN chairman said that the members of the association would continue to remain at the gate unitll the strike is called off.

Also speaking, Mr Joshua Luka Koku, the state PASAN Publicity Secretary  also called on the governors to implement the financial autonomy for state Houses of Assembly in the interest of peace and development.

He said that financial autonomy would boost legislative activites across the nation thereby bringing development to the country.

On his part,Comrade Umar Yusuf Kasim, National Treasurer of PASAN,  said  that the indefinite strike embarked upon by members of the union in the state was a directive from PASAN national leadership.

” This strike is a nation wide strike called upon by our national leadership  over non implementation of financial autonomy by governors.

” We want to appeal to governors to implement the financial autonomy, Executive Order 10 for state Houses of Assembly, ” he said ..

The PASAN national treasurer, has assured that members of the association would be peaceful while the strike last.

It would be reported that members of the association carried placards with different inscriptions such as no autonomy, no work, justice delayed is justice denied, financial autonomy is non negotiable, autonomy is constitutional, Governors’ forum  must respect the constitution.

Other inscriptions read,we stand with independence of the legislature, we stand with separation of power and rule of law, solidarity forever, among others.
