President Muhammadu Buhari has warned potential troublemakers to stay away from ballot boxes on October 10 in Ondo State.

At an emergency caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Monday morning shortly after the visit of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu together with Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State to the Aso Villa, the President warned that anyone who foments trouble in Ondo State during the gubernatorial election, especially by carrying ballot boxes, would be doing so at the “expense of his life.”

”Anybody who decides to snatch boxes or lead thugs to disturb the election will not live to explain it. I have given the military and police the order to be ruthless.”

”I am going to warn anybody who thinks he would lead a body of thugs in his locality to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system; he would do it at the expense of his/her own life,” the President said.

Mr Buhari stated that recently, Nigeria’s internal election has attracted international communities and this has made us to reiterate our commitment to ensuring that the wish of the masses prevails.

“As much as we will support our party’s flag bearer in Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu SAN to win the governorship election in the State, we will also ensure that the victory is honourable and well deserved. APC will never allow any form of electoral fraud whatsoever”, the President said.

A source, very close to the presidency who sought anonymity, revealed that Mr President is not happy with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu because of the anti-party he played during the last presidential election.

The national caucus meeting, which was initially scheduled to be televised for about 30 minutes, was cut off live broadcast after the president’s remarks.

Journalists were also asked to leave the venue to allow for a closed-door session.
