PFN Awards Sholarship to 56 Children Inmates in Nasarawa

Prison Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) says it has taking charge of sponsoring fifty six children of the incarcerated parents in Nasarawa State with specific objective of minimizing crime in the society.

Nasarawa State Chairman of the Fellowship, Simeon Ajibola, stated this during the closing ceremony  of the inmates children Holiday camping, held at Sokoga British Academy Keffi, Saturday.

The children inmates holiday camp, with the theme, precious God, was designed for the children whose parents are serving jail terms in different correctional centres, with a view to offering them scholarship from primary to secondary school including WAEC and NECO examinations.

Speaking on the essence of the holiday camp, the state chairman of Prison Fellowship of Nigeria PFN, Simeon Ajibola, said the children were selected from all the local government areas of the state irrespective of their faiths, and trained on different skills to make them self reliant before their parents are released from prison, as well as teaching them the Lord’s direction, calling for support to enable them succeed.

On his part, the in charge of Keffi Custodial centre, Nima Israel, appreciated the prison fellowship of Nigeria for their commitment towards assisting the less privileged in the society particularly children whose parents are in prison, and promised to continue supporting them to succeed.

In an interview, the state Coordinator of PFN, Mrs. Oloyede, disclosed that the project started in Nasarawa state since 2012, saying the organization is expected to enroll about one hundred children in 2023/2024 academic session, which will cost the organization one million naira.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mrs. Rose Timothy appreciated the PFN for reducing their burden just as the event featured prayers for the release of those who are in prison custody.
