Bello dissolves Kogi 7th Assembly, 2 members died, 52 bills, over 2000 motions passed. IDRIS AHMED, LOKOJA Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has officially pronounced the dissolution of the seventh Assembly of the State preparatory to the inauguration of the newly elected lawmakers. Governor Bello who announced the dissolution of the Assembly on Monday at the end of the valedictory session of the House held in Lokoja, appreciated members that served in the sixth and seventh assembly for thier contributions . He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the All members 25 All Progressive Congress, (APC), adding that the party remains a winning team in Kogi State. While assuring that the future is bright for the party, the Governor emphasized that, there is need for members to cultivate the spirit of tolerance, patriotism and unity for the overall development of the state, irrespective of religion, tribe or political affiliations. Bello commended Journalists for ensuring factual reportage in promoting peace and tranquility in the state assuring that, his administration will continue to go after criminal elements in order to have a peaceful and secured Kogi State. In his valedictory speech, the outgoing Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Mathew Kolawole, disclosed that the assembly lost two members during the 7th legislative session. The deceased members include John Abba of Ibaji Constituency and Jimoh Omiata of Yagba East State Constituency. While appreciating the lawmakers for their support towards ensuring the success of the seventh assembly, Rt Hon. Kolawole posited that, the seventh assembly have ensured good governance in the last seven years. The former Speaker disclosed that 52 bills were passed 32 of which were executive bills and 20 were private members bills of which 37 were passed and assented to by the Governor, adding that the assembly also passed 1, 451 resolutions with 688 regular motions. He however added that while two bills are currently awaiting assent while one withheld, a total of 12 bills are at various stages of consideration before the end of the seventh legislative Assembly.
