The Kogi State November 11 governorship election has come and gone with the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo being declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after beating his rival, Alhaji Murital Yakubu (Muri Ajaka) of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The November 11 election was adjudged by both local and international observers as most free, fair, credible and peaceful election in the history of the State.

However, the candidate of the SDP, Muritala Ajaka who lost his bid to succeed the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been sponsoring protest within and outside the state calling for cancellation of the poll.

Ajaka had also said he wouldn’t be going to court to challenge the poll outcome, considering it as his personal opinion but changed his mind and approached the Tribunal.

The Kogi Local Government Director General, All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council for Ododo/Joel 2023, Alhaji Muhammed Shuaibu Asio, has congratulated Kogi Governor elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo and his deputy Joel Salifu Oyibo on their victory in the just concluded off-cycle election in the state.

Alhaji Shuaibu Asio in a congratulatory message made available to Global Times Nigeria noted that the incoming government will consolidate on the solid foundation of the outgoing administration of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, in areas of development of the state and a better welfarism package for the residents.

The Kogi LG DG campaign for Ododo/Joel 2023 commended the people of Kogi State for their supports for Ododo, APC, and the way and manner they comfort themselves during the elections.

The young politician noted that “It is lies in the fact that it is God that appoints whoever He wishes into positions.” Ahmed Usman Ododo is here to continue with the good works already started by Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. Asio said

Speaking on the SDP’s candidate, Murital Yakubu Ajaka, Alhaji Asio described Ajaka as a well known attention seeker and pretender that is out to seek for cheap public sympathy. He advised him to emulate Sen. Dino Melaye by accepting the poll outcome, adding the he was outrightly rejected by the people of Kogi State.

The Kogi LG DG campaign for APC/Ododo/Joel 2023 called on SDP’s Muri Ajaka to accept the outcome of election, as it promotes peace, stability, and democratic values.

He said accepting the poll outcome demonstrates respect for the will of the people and allows for a smooth transition of power.

According to him, it’s also fosters a positive political environment, where leaders can work together for the betterment of their constituents.
