Speaker NYAN To Authority: Eliminate Banditry In Nigeria Now Before It’s Consume Us All

Following the recurring insecurity in the country particularly in the northern region where banditry activities are gaining more ground daily.

In a press statement issued on Sunday evening by Rt. Hon Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal, Speaker, Northern Youths Assembly Of Nigeria, (NYAN), has charged the nation’s leaders to rise to the occasion and put a stop to the madness that is slowly swallowing Nigeria and Nigerians daily.

Lawal also recalled that in times past Northern Nigeria used to be a relatively peaceful place with leaders and forefathers sitting outside on their mats with their family and kinsmen, wondering why the unjust killings of innocent sound in the country.

“We need results from our security agents. They should stop talking and but do the needful to protect lives and properties.”

The Northern Speaker noted that such blissful memory is fast fading away and due largely to activities of banditry, terrorism, cattle rustling, and farmer and herder clashes have become the business of the day in Nigeria.

“Our farmers now pay protection taxes to bandits Our sisters are kidnapped, raped for days, and returned.”

“We cannot keep quiet and pretend that all is well. the north is being engulfed in serious crisis.”

“We massively voted for President Muhammadu Buhari because we believe he had the capacity, experience, and wherewithal to govern this great nation, but the reverse is now the case.” The Speaker said.

While sympathizing with Nigerians and most especially victims of the attack, the Speaker calls on the President, the National Assembly, and All northern governors to eliminate the ugly menace ravaging the nation before it eliminates us all Nigerians.

According to him, forewarned is forearmed even as he urged Nigerians irrespective of religion, parties, and tribal differences to commit the nation to the hands of God through serious prayers and fasting to overcome the insecurity.

He charged the security agencies to mount surveillance and be more tactical in their operation.

The NYAN Speaker is a native of Toto local government area of Nasarawa State and a graduate from Nasarawa State University Keffi.
