APC Youth Network Feeds Over 1,000 Lagos Residents, Supports Nursing Mothers each with 200,000 Cash Gifts …Organisers Insist Weekly Outreach Is Humanitarian, Not Vote Buying By Yahaya Idris, Lagos The All Progressives Congress Youth Network West Africa (APCYN-WA) has expanded its weekly humanitarian food outreach in Lagos, providing meals to more than 1,000 residents and offering financial support to nursing mothers as part of efforts to assist vulnerable Nigerians. The outreach, held on Friday at the organisation’s Lagos Secretariat, attracted beneficiaries from different political backgrounds, religious groups and ethnic communities, including women, children, elderly persons and other vulnerable residents. Speaking on the initiative, organisers said the weekly programme is designed to provide food assistance and relief packages to Nigerians facing economic hardship, adding that the intervention is open to everyone regardless of political affiliation. As part of the outreach, the Director-General of APCYN-WA, Hon. Olatunde Gideon Igbasan, presented cash gifts of ₦200,000 each to three lactating mothers, while other nursing mothers received ₦50,000 each to support their welfare. Many beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the APC youth group for what they described as a timely intervention, offering prayers for Hon. Igbasan and members of his team for sustaining the initiative. Some of the beneficiaries also publicly declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, organisers maintained that the weekly food outreach should not be viewed as political campaigning or vote buying. “This is about humanity, not politics,” one of the organisers said. “Our objective is to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda by ensuring that no Nigerian goes hungry. The programme will continue before elections, during elections and after elections.” According to the organisers, the Friday Food Outreach has become a regular humanitarian initiative aimed at providing relief to vulnerable citizens while promoting compassion, social inclusion and community support. They added that the programme will continue every Friday as part of APCYN-WA’s commitment to giving back to society and supporting Nigerians in need.
