Democracy Newsline Newspaper Honours NAPHDA Executive Secretary for Transforming Primary Healthcare in Nasarawa

The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHDA), Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, is set to receive the prestigious “Exemplary Public Health Leadership Award” from Democracy Newsline Newspaper in recognition of his contributions to primary healthcare development in Nasarawa State.

The award recognises Dr. Saleh’s leadership in strengthening primary healthcare delivery, improving maternal and child health outcomes, and expanding access to quality healthcare services across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas.

Under his leadership, NAPHDA has recorded notable progress in the renovation and equipping of Primary Health Centres (PHCs), recruitment and training of healthcare workers, immunisation coverage, and implementation of key health interventions in collaboration with federal agencies and development partners.

Announcing the honour, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Dr. Saleh was selected for demonstrating innovation, accountability and commitment to grassroots healthcare delivery.

“Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh has repositioned primary healthcare in Nasarawa State. His leadership has brought about visible improvements in service delivery, health infrastructure and community health outcomes. This award celebrates his exemplary service to the people,” Chief Femi said.

The award presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., during the Democracy Newsline Newspaper 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame.

The event will hold at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, as part of activities marking the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria.

The theme of the public lecture is “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigeria Experience.”

The keynote address will be delivered by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State.

The Chairperson of the Occasion is Chief (Mrs.) Moji Makanjuola, veteran broadcaster, while the Special Guest of Honour is Hon. Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation.
