The Chairman, Lokoja Chapter of a Non-Governmental Organization know as Amalgamated Progressive Group APG, Chief Ibrahim Abdullahi Ada, says the development of the society should not left to political office holders alone.
Chief Abdullahi Ada stated this in an interview with Newsmen in Lokoja, The state capital.
Chief Ada, who pointed out that the society has been in existence before the era of political positions noted that there was need for all and sundry to contribute their quota to the development of the society.
He said political office holders cannot meet the one hundred percent needs of every society, stressing that well-to-do individuals, Groups and Associations should rise and impact the society positively.
“leaving the scene for only the political office holders alone is not good enough because the society is not just for the politically inclined. We have great entrepreneurs, educationists, engineers, artisans among others that are doing very well in their various spheres of life so, these people too needs to give back to the society. You may not really have the resources but you can contribute your ideas. There is something everybody can contribute to the development of the society we all find ourselves. If the society is developed, peaceful, progressing, it’s for the good of all”
The Chairman noted that at the End of the Year Party and Launch of a Maiden Almanac of APG scheduled for the 10th of December 2020, at NIWA Staff Canten, near INEC Office Lokoja Kogi State by 2pm, the Group will Award individuals who have contributed towards ensuring the growth of the society in various ways.
“We have several indigenes and non indigenes of Lokoja that have one way or another contributed to our society. Some of them employed our youths in their companies. Youths that would have probably taken to social vices but since they’ve been positively engaged, they don’t have time for such again. This is what we are talking about, rendering service to humanity. We are going to Award 10 of such persons for now, as a sign to appreciate them for their efforts and as well encourage them to do more”
Chief Ada expressed optimism that the Group will not rest on it’s oars at helping one another and enjoined members to remain committed towards realizing the aims and objectives of the noble Group.
“At this point, I want to appreciate members of Amalgamated Progressive Group for their relentless efforts so far. Thanks for your support and contribution that has brought us to the level we are today.
Things can always get better. I encourage us to remain steadfast so that we can work collectively to achieve the aims and objectives of APG”
